If you are photographing to share on social media, you can get away with an APS-C camera or a smaller sensor. If you are shooting large-scale commercial projects for large companies or even professional wedding photography, you need a full-frame DSLR with a larger sensor. The full-frame sensor is based on film photography.

The difference in size between the 2 APS-C sensors is noticeable, although not drastically. However, the difference between the APS-C images and the full frame is quite remarkable. A lot of the field of view is lost. This can be compensated for on an APS-C camera with a wider lens.

A full-frame sensor is the same size as a piece of 35mm film which was, and still is, the most widely-used type of film in analog cameras. The most common size that the term crop-sensor refers to is known as APS-C, which is the same size as a piece of film from the mid-1990’s Advantix format (also called the Advanced Photo System or APS) invented by Kodak.
